Ken Nixon
Hello, I’m Ken Nixon, and I‘ve been involved with Hospital Radio for well over 15 years as presenter and secretary. Currently I’m Chair of YCHR and on Monday and Thursday mornings (Ken at Ten!), I present programmes which include music of all kinds ranging from pop to opera, classical to showbusiness, spanning the last six decades and even older than that on occasions!
Peter Astell
Peter joined Bridlington Hospital Broadcasting Service back in 2004 after suffering a medical condition. He was treated by the NHS and wanted to give something back to this invaluable service so he got involved with the Bridlington radio station. He was soon trained up to become a presenter and after a couple of years he was appointed as the station's fund raising co-ordinator. He has been instrumental in raising money to replace vital equipment so the station can continue to broadcast to the patients of Bridlington Hospital.
A year ago he was appointed as the station's secretary and is actively involved in liason with the Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Hospital Trust to better the service and as a result we hope to be able to be broadcasting to Scarborough General Hospital early next year.
Peter says that this is one of the best things he has done in his life, getting involved with an organisation that delivers a vital service to the patients and staff. If you are interested, then contact Peter and he will gladly have a chat with you.
